What's going to happen to those MP's Duck? I hope I'm wrong, but if they weren't added to the registry before the 1968 amnesty, they're slag. :scream:

The Garand is probably my favorite rifle in the safe. Mine is a CMP service grade. Sure wish they still sold the cheap Greek ammo. Oddly enough, I have a Canadian issued Lee Enfield No 1 Mk 4 as well. Another one that doesn't get out often due to surplus ammo not being available for years. Don't even get me started on all the South Afrikan 7.62x51 surplus I burned thru like it would never run out... makes me want to cry big salty tears

Nice Jake! My black powder collection currently just has the previously mention repro Remington 1858 New Army and a repro Colt 1860 Army both in .44. Would love to add a Walker, a Patterson, and a Navy like yours. 6 shots, but typically only 5 were loaded as you would want to rest the hammer on an empty chamber. Shooting these old girls gives you a lot of respect for the men who had to carry them.

Nice Jake! Would love to see some pics of that beauty! And Buaya, the Wonder Wads over modern powder seem pretty safe, but slobbin bore butter all of the cylinder would still be a real good idea... it was probably dumb of me to mention my lax practice. Safety first with any firearm, especially 150 year old designs. Gonna be real bad if I ever get the brown Bess repro I want cuzz I HAVE to try the tap loading from the Sharpes books. :hiding:

If any of you got a chance to play with real black powder (not the newer ff, fff and 4f rated substitutes) you would also see a very literal fog of war. Real black powder throws out a TON of thick, nasty, smoke. Do in the times of line infantry tactics, with hundreds of muskets going off 2-3 times a minute, smoke billowing from the pan and the nuzzles if there was no wind to move it along you would quite quickly have walls of smoke. Of course it is also way dirtier than the new stuff; in my Italinan 1858 New Army Remington repro I could fire 2 or 3 cylinders before the pistol was so gummed up you couldn't clock the hammer and pull the trigger. The new stuff is a lot safer and I dodn't grease the end of the cylinder to cover the charges, just rand wonder was between ball and powder. Shot 6+ cylinders with very acceptable fouling.

That was a lot of fun, Jake. Bigboldc was blasting reds with us as well. Great getting to hang out with some folks I haven't seen in far too long. Icemaiden showing up was a great surprise. Thanks for the blast from the past guys. :beerbuddy:
