the one thing that caught my eye is the fact it only sees up to tier 4 tanks, so it'll always be top tier.

I second the vertical stabilizer recommendation, when playing a peek-a-boom it's nice to have the circle tighten up quickly to get that all important weak spot shot off.
I also run vents over optics as vents will help boost vision as well as all the other tank stats
and gun rammer is a must on any tank

I voted the last social option, but I think I'm a bit more competitive than that. While I do like having fun, I also do try hard to win and will get pissed off slash grumpy if I run into a losing streak

I too walk the path of damage, and while it's important and one the best things to gain XP, it doesn't necessarily equate having high damage to being a good tanker. I'm a bit of a math geek and love stats, so I do evaluate my play based on some of the stats and rating systems out there, but as fun as they are, they don't tell the whole story.
No stat I've ever seen is able to measure how good you are at being a team player. I can't count how many time's I've been the lone tank heading left while the lemming train ran right. Always I die trying to hold the flank, hopefully long enough so the team can win.
But at the end of the day, it really comes down to having fun, this is a game and not a job. If drunk tanking while having fun with friends floats your boat, good on you! If being obsessed with stats and striving to be super unicum is your thing, that's fine too.

How many elephants can you fit in a mini cooper? Four, 2 in the front, 2 in the back.
How do you get an elephant in the fridge? Open the door, put in the elephant, close the door.
How do you put a giraffe in the fridge? Open the door, take out the elephant, put in the giraffe, close the door.
The Lion king throws a huge party for the animals. On the way you come across a crocodile filled stream, how do you cross? You walk over, the crocodiles are at the party.
You get to the party, what animals are there? All of them but the giraffe who's still in the fridge.
How do you tell if there's and elephant in your fridge? Foot prints in the potato salad.
How do you tell if there's 2 elephants in your fridge? You can hear them chatting at night.
How do you tell if there's 3 elephants in your fridge? The door doesn't quite close.
How do you tell if there's 4 elephants in your fridge? There's a mini cooper parked in your driveway.
