The light tanks is what ruined it for me

Agreed, 'specially for tier '12'... that's where Wargaming gave away so many (and in some cases OP) premium light tanks.  The one with the 'tree of cannons' on the top was especially grievous.  Made trying to get experience in my T-62 impossible: there were always 2-4 of those *#*$ lights in every battle, and they were always in the top six at the end of the battle.  :(

Just sold my M-47 and brought my last crew back to WWII.

The future is not for me

Sorry to hear that Guderian... :(  Like I said, the battles can be _really_ different when _everyone_ in the battle is driving a fast medium.  ;)

Why, yes Chuckles ... it’s new

Actually it’s almost six months old now, but very new compared to us.

It can be fun;  I thought I wouldn't like it, but it _can_ be really fun.  Two issues I've seen:
  • Level of play can be pretty un-even.  It appears some new players are going directly to Cold War mode, and as a result, some of your 'team mates' can be little more effective than bots
  • It can be pretty spendy: the tanks are not cheap to purchase, and the upgrades steps all appear to be 250,000 silver and above.  One gun upgrade was 1.9 million silver.  They've increased the money granted per battle recently to counter that issue, so the cost issue is better than it was.

Keep on tanking!

Wow... that's a pretty massive amount of damage for that tank!  GG!

Why Matilda is probably my favorite tank in the game...I know, I know, it's only Tier IV, but it's still FUN!

Wait, wut?

You were on the Other Team from BattleAxe & I?
Well, I was on cliff with an -OFF- platoon, and did see BattleAxe on the other side.  He was driving a Tier IX, I believe.  Our team did terrible, with several dying in the opening minutes; it was actually impressive: I mean, really, those first few had to move pretty quickly to get killed that quickly.

Though I do not remember seeing you, Maddog.   Maybe it was a different game ...  :)

Had the pleasure of having Dan/Battle Ax on the green team on Cliff yesterday...we treated the red team like rented mules LOL

Yes, very good to see you.  However, I took exception to being treated like a rented mule.

Stupid greens ...

It is free to play.  And if you get in now, there's free cash and prizes (in game, of course) for joining the early access release.

Come on down!!

TOG platoon had a heck of a game last night:  a 14-kill Crucial Contribution ...  And the lone arty had the 15th.  On Prok, of all maps... who'd a thunk four TOGs, and a British Bulldog could do so well on Prok...

Alas... I don't think I saw the TOG-II on the list of premiums that one could use as a 'trade in'...

Carl is it true that most shark attacks occur in less than 3 feet of water about 10 feet from the beach?

Shameful, just shameful Duckman.  Tsk tsk.

SUNDANSS

For my money, the Lycan is identical to the old T71, before the split into two T71's. Actually, I don't know the difference between the T71 CMD versus the T71 TACO, or whatever the other one is called.  Either way, the Lycan is fantastic if you are comfortable with light tanks.  Good, not great silver generator.

The Revenant  is basically a not-top-gun Panther, the Tier VII German medium (it has the L70, not the L100 7.5cm); in fact, the gun is identical to the premium-matchmaking Panther/M10.  So limited to a Tier VI gun, without the premium matchmaking, on a tier VII medium.  In many situations could be a better silver generator than the Lycan.
Myself, if I didn't mind the L70 gun on my Panther, I'd go for the Panther/M10, and get the premium matchmaking, but that really isn't on the table I guess...  ;)

So Lycan versus Revenant?  Easy call for me: Lycan.

The Kaiju is a premium version of the Japanese Tier VI heavy, the O-I, but limited to the 10cm gun.  I have the Kaiju and I prefer the 15cm gun on the O-I, so the lack of it on the Kaiju aggravates me.  :)  It doesn't get premium matchmaking, but the gun is classified as a Tier VII gun, so really, its not a huge hardship.  The speed is not great, and it is a huge target, with troll front armor, but TOG-II-like slab sides that are easily penetrated.  Played right, it can be blast, and if its top tier and the circumstances are right, it is a holy terror.

The Gorynych is another premium version of the Soviet Tier VIII premium heavy tank, the KV-5.  I have the KV-5, and like it a great deal; the armor is troll, pretty much from all angles, and with the premium matchmaking: you never have to shoot at Tier X tanks.  Which is good, since the penetration of the standard rounds on the KV-5 gun (ZIS-6), is actually a little less than the Kaiju 10cm, but both are classified as a Tier VII gun.  Top tier, and played right, it is a terror, especially on a limited mobility map (like Ensk, or Himmelsdorf); no one wants to fight a KV-5 in tight quarters.  Little known fact: the KV-5, as an 80-ton tank, is a fearsome rammer:  I will _always_ make a ram attack on an enemy tank down a slope.

Kaiju versus Gorynych?  Personal preference, really.  Though if you don't have a premium matchmaking Tier VIII, and everyone should, then the Gorynych is decent choice.
The silver earning potential of the Gorynych will be higher than the Kaiju, simply because of the tier difference.

The Hollenhund is a German premium variant of the American M41 Bulldog: a painted version of the leKpz M41 90mm ; both are Tier VIII light tanks.  The gun on the Hollenhund is actually better than the top gun on the American M41.  All the usual light tank goodness of the Bulldog, with a better pen gun and higher alpha damage.  Literally nothing not to like.

The Dragon is a Chinese premium variant of the already premium Type 62 light tank;  comparing the Type 62 to the other tech-tree Tier VII Chinese light tank, the WZ-131, the Type 62 has a buff'ed version of the starting WZ-131 starting gun, the 85mm.  The rate of fire is roughly 11 rounds/min, versus the WZ-131 ROF of 9 with the same gun.   So all the usual light tank goodness of the WZ-131, with a better rate of fire (but less pen/alpha, and somehow better aim time).  Again, nothing not to like in comparison.  A top-package WZ-131 has better pen and alpha, and slightly faster, but the DPM on the Dragon is higher (assuming all rounds pen).

So Hollenhund or Dragon?  Purely personal preference; they are both somewhere between good and fantastic.  :D  I guess its a question of which fits better in your garage: tier VII versus tier VIII, German versus Chinese.

Just my three kopecks... :superdrunk:

Hello fellow O.F.F.ers, have been absent since mid May - June ... Thanks J.K.M.

JKM:  I like:
- Cruncher (VIII) : drives like the Tier VIII American Medium, but with the Tiger I  8.8 cm/L71, nice reload, very accurate.  I've rarely needed to use premium APCR.
- Needle (IV) : drives like a faster Matilda; gun is reasonably close to Matilda (A-20 47mm), armor is comparable (Pzr II-J hull), speed is much faster, IMHO.  Does do terribly in Tier VI battles; the 47mm pen falls off faster then the British 2-pdr.

I don't like:
- Stubbs (V) : I was looking forward to a Mercenary Light/Scout tank.  This one... not quite fast enough, and the gun is awful.  British DERP gun (shots rainbows, which makes leading a target laughably hard).  Comes with HEP, so I was initially excited, but the pen is so terrible, its hard to do _any_ damage to Tier V+ tanks, save for the known nearly-armor-less tanks.  I mean, I was able to one-shot a T-67 once.  Once.
- Bulwark (V) : this beast has the Matilda 2 pdr, and in a Tier V battle it is _okay_; against Tier 6 you'll shoot some premium; and against Tier 7 its laughable (the premium pen is barely good enough, but the alpha is just so bad).
- Caboose (III) : the KV-2 of Tier III.  Hilarious in a Tier III battle.  Terrible terrible performance in Tier V.  I almost recommended it, since its a riot at Tier III, but ... I've rarely been top tier in it, and never have I been top tier in it when I was in a platoon.
